Senate Soundings: Republicans Talking Scott Frantz This Weekend.

With Linda McMahon going silent on a 2012 Senate bid, attention among Republican insiders has turned to Greenwich Republican state Senator L. Scott Frantz.  A prodigious fundraiser for Republicans, Frantz is serving his second term from the 36th district, which includes Greenwich and portions of Stamford and New Canaan.

Frantz’s response to Hearst’s Neil Vigdor on Saturday will add to speculation about his interest in the race for the seat held by 4-term incumbent Joseph Lieberman, who announced on Wednesday that he would not seek re-election next year.  Like fellow Greenwich Republicans Linda McMahon and Tom Foley, Frantz, an entrepreneur, possesses a considerable fortune to ease the burden of fundraising that accompanies an expensive statewide race.

It would be great if Scott ran! Scott’s been my State Senator here in North Stamford for 4 years now and is one of the few humble and accessible politicians I’ve ever met. Even my liberal friends like him, he would pick up a lot of indie votes.

Lucky for me, I live in Scott’s portion of New Canaan and so he is my State senator. I’m not a straight party line voter; sometimes I vote D, sometimes I vote R. I voted for Scott both times he sought election. I find him to a strong voice for everyone in the district and I think he’d do a good job for the state. I think he can win too so I definitely hope Scott runs.. Run Frantz Run!!!

He was an early and vocal supporter of Mike Fedele’s run for governor. Mike has also expressed interest in Lieberman’s seat. It will be interesting to see how this affects each pol’s decision-making.

I have known Scott for about 10 years, mostly through his work with the Bradley International Airport Board of Directors and as a State Senator. First and foremost, Scott is a great person. He puts his family first. He is always positive and I’ve never heard him say a cross word about anyone. For Scott, politics is all about service — not ego. He doesn’t need the work, he doesn’t need the salary or the benefits, and he doesn’t need the headaches or the time away from home. But Scott cares deeply about people and about the future of Connecticut. If Scott is willing to indure the personal sacrifices associated with running for the US Senate, I say we would be incredibly lucky to have him representing our state in Washington. Good luck, Scott.

Scott is the best candidate for the Senate seat that the GOP has. We need to move past these candidates that cannot win like Rob, Linda and Mike Fedele.

They all have too much baggage. Scott would be a fresh face and run a positive campaign, I hope he does it!

Scott’s a fabulous fellow who has managed to totally overcome both his lower Fairfield County residence, and his substantial personal wealth.

In fact he apparently sends his shirts out of town to the cleaners as they come back cleaned & pressed but NOT professionally stuffed as do too many in that part of the state.
(It appears he and Fred Camillo must use the same dry cleaner as there’s nothing even vaguely arrogant about Freddy either.)

Frantz is both a rock solid Republican and bright witty fellow who’s a pleasure to be around.

According to my friend, CT State Senator Joe Markley (R-16) Frantz plays well with others too.

IE: “You’re right! Scott Frantz is a *really* GOOD guy – I like him and expect to work well with him.

Frantz has helped champion legislation that while not directly impacting many; could have impacted a few in a very negative sense, up to and including the loss of their child.

Scott knows when to step up to the plate and when to take an issue all the way to the mat.
The man has common sense, which is regretfully in such short supply we should expect to hear of rationing any time now.

We could do a lot worse than Scott Frantz and it’s doubtful we could do much better.

Scott, if you run for the U.S. Senate I will support you. When it comes to understanding what needs to be done to get Connecticut and the country moving again in a positive direction, you get it.
