Watching Janet Peckinpaugh

Television personality Janet Peckinpaugh appeared at the State Capitol late this morning for a press availability.  She attracted nearly a full contingent of electronic media in her Hartford stop, which was preceded and followed by campaign events in the 2nd congressional district.

Peckinpaugh should be encouraged that Democratic activist and consultant Jim Leahy, of Tolland, recorded the Peckinpaugh event.  You know you’re a contender when the other side has someone making a video record of your late entry into a crowded race.

Now at the eleventh hour, Janet Peckinpaugh, a former “reporter” and television personality, has entered the 2nd Congressional District race as a newly minted Republican, no less. Succinctly put: this is a case of “style vs substance” once again, or if you prefer of “name recognition over political credentials”. I’m incredulous and so are many of the people I know in this district. What’s wrong with the state GOP committee? Janet Peckinpaugh is NOT the kind of candidate the CT GOP should be supporting; it’s painfully obvious she is only there due to her name recognition. She has stated this herself.

Daria Novak a principled Reagan-styled Conservative who speaks the simple truth about the direction our country is going in. Everything she says makes perfect sense. Everything she says rings of the Conservative principles rooted in our history, our Founders’ shared vision and our Constitution. Shouldn’t she be the candidate the CT GOP supports???

P.S. Haven’t we had enough losing and loser RINOs nominated for statewide and national office yet???

Why is the story about the amount of media who showed up to cover one of their own? Shouldn’t the story be centered on the former reporter, a Democrat , who registered Republican a couple of weeks ago, then gets urged by her State Central Rep.(part of the old, good old white boy network) to run for Congress, etc. This is followed by the Republican State Party Chairman, who likes to control who is a candidate, getting “stoked” about mortgage salewoman’s negative name recognition. Doesn’t it matter to these RINOs that a Republican nominee actually be a Republican? Chris Healy and State Central insulted all the active, hard-working Republicans in CT by their actions this year. The people want a choice, not 2 Democrats, one of whom is wrapped in a Republican label to cover her past. And, what a past it is from the postings all over the Internet. The Republicans blew it big time with this character. She can’t answer questions, doesn’t know the isues, and was a shill on TV for a felon convicted of scamming mortgages. We don’t want more of the same-old, same-old. This will tear apart what remains of the Republican Party.

We need new leadership or a new Party!! Isn’t this like the 4th candidate to go up against Daria Novak? My wager is that this attempt will fail, too. Maybe the Republicans ought to focus on finding candidates for the empty state Rep and State Senate seats instead of derailing good candidates they can’t control.

Novak has my vote. I don’t trust Peckinpaugh.
