Sweeeeet Sixteen!

Kudos to young Miss Blumenthal for saving and investing her allowance.
Here’s a link to the FEC report of the contributions and another to The Hartford Courant story on the generous Blumenthals and Malkins.

Looks kinda fishy to me — are these contributions legal? Did the children write checks/use their own credit cards which they will be paying for out of their own money? or were they “straw” contributions? Maybe the Attorney General should investigate this.
I wish I had $10 grand to burn at 16.
I’m no expert on campaign finance laws, but how is it OK for there to be over $11,000 from an entity identified as “UNITEMIZED CONTRIBUTIONS” located at 430 S CAPITOL ST SE WASHINGTON, DC 20003?
430 S. Capitol would be the DNC.
I wonder if the family dog contributed…
Parents can grant their children $10 K every year per tax standards and regulations. If Ms. Blumenthal wishes to invest it in her Dad, then more power to her. Don’t act like it is a frivolous act when it is indeed an investment in her state and her father. Why should she not?
You can bet Linda would do the same, but maybe her kids don’t think she should be a senator. I certainly don’t think she should–lack of qualifications, an inability to tell the truth, a less than impressive resume.
So it’s safe to assume that Claire Blumenthal gets a $10,000 allowance.
Any way you spin it, a 16 year old can only get 10K from one place – her parents. The 10K that Claire Blumenthal gave to her father’s campaign is Richard Blumenthal’s own money.
It’s kind of hypocritical to lob the “buying an election” line when your candidate is funneling money into his campaign through his underage kids.
$10,000 vs $20 million+ of McMahon’s own money? Give me a break.
At least Linda is up front about it — Blumenthal funnels it through his kids then through the Democratic State committee and then to his campaign. Not very transparent or efficient — but that is the way of the Democrats.
“$10,000 vs $20 million+ of McMahon’s own money? Give me a break.”
– PAC money’s ok because McMahon is rich.
– Funneling money through your kid’s names is ok because McMahon is rich.
Got any others?
