Unknown Republican Bolts Race.

Chester First Selectman Tom Marsh will announce Monday that he’s leaving the Republican race for governor to run on the Independent Party ticket.  Marsh has made little progress in the crowded field for the Republican nomination.  The Republican convention that begins four weeks from tomorrow is expected to have a “low man out” rule in the balloting.  That might have meant Marsh would have been eliminated at the end of the first ballot, an embarrassment for the chatty local official.

With Marsh taking a powder from the GOP race, there are 5 candidates left.  Can you name them?

Prediction: Foley wins the nomination at the convention. Fedele comes in second. Boughton third, Oz fourth and DeNardis in a distant fifth. Foley, Fedele and (probably) Boughton will clear the 15% hurdle. Griebel might, DeNardis will not and will drop out.

We go into the primary where Foley wins relatively comfortably largely due to the fact that Fedele and Boughton won’t have the financial resources to compete. If Griebel makes it into the primary he might give Foley a run for his money given that the former Metro Hartford Exec. isn’t handicapped by public financing. Nevertheless, Foley wins the nod.

Foley should seriously consider offering the Lt. Gov. spot to Griebel – two outsider businessmen w/out the baggage of the General Assembly, two different geographic bases.

There’s more than five Kevin, try at least seven:
Foley
Boughton
Fedele
DeNardis
Acevedo
Griebel
Merrell

HWP, you got it wrong:

Foley
Boughton
Fedele

Fedele is hovering around 15% and DeNardis and Griebel are no where near it.

NO WAY will Foley offer the LG spot to Griebel. By the way, the LG spot isn’t Foley’s to “offer” ask John DeStefano how that doesn’t work.

If you’re still lost, post back and I’ll explain it to you in more simplistic terms that you might be able to understand.
